Infinity War
I finally saw it because it's on Netflix now, and I just... I have emotions. I hope it's acceptable if I vent some Black Panther-related babbling here??
First, obviously and most spoiler-y:
Augh! No! T'Challa, why???
- the look on Okoye's face when T'Challa melts
- highly relatable, damn TT_TT
- Did Shurri make it out? I feel like she didn't dissolve, so she probably made it out?
- How does succession work in Wakanda? Does the crown automatically go to Shuri because she's the eldest child of the ruling family? Does Nakia factor in this at all?
- realtalk: as smart and capable as Shuri is, it is my strong feeling that Nakia would be a better queen. If Shuri were still a minor, they could probably get Nakia for a few years as queen regent but I'm pretty sure Shuri is of age, so... That's a thing.
Second: DAMN. Wakanda is amazing! Their border wall, even though it's just around the capital, is dope! And the fact that they can drop just a section of the wall is super smart and also the kind of thing I wouldn't take for granted.
- Barnes's reaction when he saw the wall seemed to confirm the fanons about him just chilling and RAISING GOATS???? Possibly really badly and with the help of his entertained neighbors.
- Is it weird that I was interested to see some boy-warriors? Like, obviously, men in Wakanda get to fight too, but the dora milaje are SOOOO iconic it's easy to forget about the... regular rank-and-file? But there were some guys in purple uniforms who kind of looked like a spear counterpart to the dora milaje, and can I say again how much I love Wakanda as a setting?
Next: I would personally like to thank whoever wrote in the little bit of dialogue where Shuri was like "Why didn't you just do X?" and Banner was like "...we didn't think of it." It wasn't quite as magical as the nerds all becoming Science Friends, but it wasn't that kind of movie so I'll take what I can get
TT_TT Sorry I just remembered the look on Okoye's face when T'Challa dissolved and got sad again.
ALSO, thank you, writers, for giving me the team-up I didn't know I needed (Okoye+Natasha+Wanda).
But don't think I didn't notice that there were... zero black superheroes left by the end of the movie? Oh, no, wait. There's one! We got to keep Rhodey. *sighs* At least we got to keep M'Baku too, even though in the MCU he's not a Superhero.
Okay, that's me. SO THOUGHTS? What did YOU notice about Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War? And/or did it stir up any shipping-thoughts?

- Yeah, my boyfriend pointed out that the OG avengers were left standing, which kind of makes sense from a cross-movie story arc perspective. (It doesn't do much to soothe my personal prickliness about having heroes who aren't white men, but I understand a bit more where it came from)
- Yes, agree 100% on getting to see more Wakanda! I wonder how young girls start dreaming about being dora milaje? Do most kids go through a phase (like being a vet or teacher) or is it more of a niche thing? What is social mobility like in Wakanda? What about moving from one tribe to another? Do kids get kimoyo beads when they're young (elementary age) or older? Are kimoyo bead memes 2D or 3D? So many questions!
- OKAY, YES, I did see the Avengers: endgame trailer just now! (I watched it 'cause you and the other commenters talked about it) I remain at least as uncertain as I was before, so take that! Is it too cynical to wonder if--assuming people can be "unsnapped"--the odds of of T'Challa and Sam Wilson coming back are worse than Ant Man (okay bad example--Peter Parker)? 'Cause the writers might still need to Show They Mean Business.

Ant-Man survived the snap!! He's just in the quantum relm as of now. But I'd like to think T'challa would be unsnapped, if only because a secound Black Panther movie was greenlit. And it wouldn't make sense to take such a popular charater off the board so soon. But I guess we'll see.
